Neverending.

Was just looking at my FB photos.
I just had a random and funny thought.

Because Keith and my birthdays are so close, we have always celebrated together!
Last year, this year! We even share the same surprise! Haha!

Ohoh, this year's was so classic.
Jin Yi, Nic Tang, Keith and i were just talking randomly after service.
Then Keith and I randomly turned to look around, to see Karen and PakCheong holding 2 cakes and walking towards us.
"Keith, i don't think we're supposed to see that right?"
"Ya ya, nevermind we just act and continue talking."
Karen totally scolded us for being such spoilers! Lol!

& Guess what! Keith and I realised that it's the exact cake we ate last year when the e1 celebrated for us. ^^

Power of One.

Study plans totally wrecked for the past few days, but ultra fulfilling and God engineered.
As Pastor How aptly put it,
no one is gonna remember or care who's the national champion or top student in the years to come.
no one is gonna remember who won the most medals..

But I'll remember 27 june 09, just 2 days before the start of my exams,
when I brought a 30+ year old Japanese backpacker to experience God for the first time in her entire life.
I know in that instant, a heart is stirred and changed.

I jokingly told my brother that if i fail my exams, ill boldly tell Mr Seng that i didnt have time to study cause i hosted a Japanese backpacker around Singapore just a few days before the exams. (Haha)

Next week, it's just gonna be another exam, out of the many i've taken and going to take.
But a day of hosting a Japanese backpacker around Singapore, is something special.
(More so cause it's her first time here O_O)

Things like these,
they last for eternity.

(& of course Joy also knows that she needs to do well eventually.)

Vision + Commitment > Feelings.

The Wemmicks

The Wemmicks were small wooden people. Each of the wooden people was carved by a woodworker named Eli. His workshop sat on a hill overlooking their village. Every Wemmick was different. Some had big noses, others had large eyes. Some were tall and others were short. Some wore hats, others wore coats. But all were made by the same carver and all lived in the village.

And all day, every day, the Wemmicks did the same thing: They gave each other stickers. Each Wemmick had a box of golden star stickers and a box of gray dot stickers. Up and down the streets all over the city, people could be seen sticking stars or dots on one another.

The pretty ones, those with smooth wood and fine paint, always got stars. But if the wood was rough or the paint chipped, the Wemmicks gave dots. The talented ones got stars, too. Some could lift big sticks high above their heads or jump over tall boxes. Still others knew big words or could sing very pretty songs. Everyone gave them stars.

Some Wemmicks had stars all over them! Every time they got a star it made them feel so good that they did something else and got another star. Others, though, could do little. They got dots.

Punchinello was one of these. He tried to jump high like the others, but he always fell. And when he fell, the others would gather around and give him dots. Sometimes when he fell, it would scar his wood, so the people would give him more dots. He would try to explain why he fell and say something silly, and the Wemmicks would give him more dots.

After a while he had so many dots that he didn't want to go outside. He was afraid he would do something dumb such as forget his hat or step in the water, and then people would give him another dot. In fact, he had so many gray dots that some people would come up and give him one without reason.

"He deserves lots of dots," the wooden people would agree with one another.

"He's not a good wooden person."

After a while Punchinello believed them. "I'm not a good wemmick," he would say. The few times he went outside, he hung around other Wemmicks who had a lot of dots. He felt better around them.

One day he met a Wemmick who was unlike any he'd ever met. She had no dots or stars. She was just wooden. Her name was Lulia.

It wasn't that people didn't try to give her stickers; it's just that the stickers didn't stick. Some admired Lulia for having no dots, so they would run up and give her a star. But it would fall off. Some would look down on her for having no stars, so they would give her a dot. But it wouldn't stay either.

'That's the way I want to be,'thought Punchinello. 'I don't want anyone's marks.' So he asked the stickerless Wemmick how she did it.

"It's easy," Lulia replied. "every day I go see Eli."

"Eli?"

"Yes, Eli. The woodcarver. I sit in the workshop with him."

"Why?"

"Why don't you find out for yourself? Go up the hill. He's there. "

And with that the Wemmick with no marks turned and skipped away.

"But he won't want to see me!" Punchinello cried out.

Lulia didn't hear. So Punchinello went home. He sat near a window and watched the wooden people as they scurried around giving each other stars and dots.

"It's not right," he muttered to himself. And he resolved to go see Eli.

He walked up the narrow path to the top of the hill and stepped into the big shop. His wooden eyes widened at the size of everything. The stool was as tall as he was. He had to stretch on his tiptoes to see the top of the workbench. A hammer was as long as his arm. Punchinello swallowed hard.

"I'm not staying here!" and he turned to leave. Then he heard his name.

"Punchinello?" The voice was deep and strong.

Punchinello stopped.

"Punchinello! How good to see you. Come and let me have a look at you."

Punchinello turned slowly and looked at the large bearded craftsman.

"You know my name?" the little Wemmick asked.

"Of course I do. I made you."

Eli stooped down and picked him up and set him on the bench. "Hmm, " he spoke thoughtfully as he inspected the gray circles. "Looks like you've been given some bad marks."

"I didn't mean to, Eli. I really tried hard."

"Oh, you don't have to defend yourself to me. I don't care what the other Wemmicks think."

"You don't?"

"No, and you shouldn't either. Who are they to give stars or dots? They're Wemmicks just like you. What they think doesn't matter, Punchinello. All that matters is what I think. And I think you are pretty special."

Punchinello laughed. "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump. My paint is peeling. Why do I matter to you?"

Eli looked at Punchinello, put his hands on those small wooden shoulders, and spoke very slowly. "Because you're mine. That's why you matter to me."

Punchinello had never had anyone look at him like this--much less his maker. He didn't know what to say.

"Every day I've been hoping you'd come," Eli explained.

"I came because I met someone who had no marks."

"I know. She told me about you."

"Why don't the stickers stay on her?"

"Because she has decided that what I think is more important than what they think. The stickers only stick if you let them."

"What?"

"The stickers only stick if they matter to you. The more you trust my love, the less you care about the stickers."

"I'm not sure I understand."

"You will, but it will take time. You've got a lot of marks. For now, just come to see me every day and let me remind you how much I care."

Eli lifted Punchinello off the bench and set him on the ground.

"Remember," Eli said as the Wemmick walked out the door. "You are special because I made you. And I don't make mistakes."

Punchinello didn't stop, but in his heart he thought, "I think he really means it."

And when he did, a dot fell to the ground.

Hearts filled.

Really tired right now!
But i feel like im over the moon!! ^^

Of course not because im the cow that jumped over the moon, (lol)
but it's so so endearing to see little children running all over church!

Today, my heart went up and down a few notches today!!

Heart soared to a whole new height when I stepped into the bubble lift only to see children cleaning up the church together! Not forgetting how they fought to serve food for the teachers!
AWWW.

My heart "melted into puddles and puddles of water!"
when an 8 year old JunXiang offered to help me wash all the plastic cups when he saw that i was in the toilet alone cleaning up.
DOUBLE AWWW!

Ahhh, but my heart also fell deep down below when i saw Kevin ran towards the white gate, wanting to go out, and wailing "Go away! No one loves me!"
That instance, i swear my heart ached like never before. =(

The kids really showed me the pure essence of Serving.
Doing it WHOLEheartedly, doing it with pure Love, and doing it simply because they want to carry the burden of their teachers.

This is why the next generation is so awesome and precious,
and this is why,

Ahh, i really thank God for classic moments in class that keeps me sane!
1. watching Emily doze off in every tutorial and every lecture. And she would sleep 1 sec later after you try to wake her up.
2. raiding of classrooms with the gang to find empty tables for us to sleep on.
We personally prefer class 111 and blk 11 tables. :D:D
3. playing funny hand games after meals to see who put back all the empty plates and utensils.
4. drawing quirky stuff on each others lecture notes.
like maths: miu=mew in pokemon, & not forgetting to write Yilin's name on the word "MEAN" of 'mean mode and median' and "APPROXIMATELY NORMAL"

FLEA-KER OF HOPE is a joint intitiative between the Interact Club students of Hwa Chong Institution and Raffles Instutition. This project aims to raise funds in support of the Jamiyah’s Children Home.

In partnership with HOME club, an exciting, enjoyable, extremely extraordinary flea market will be staged on the 9th of May from 12 to 9pm with online stalls selling brand new goodies, pre-loved freebies and even food and drinks!

More than 50 stalls would be there to bring you a time of fun, entertainment, shopping therapy and warm fuzzy feelings:)

This event will also be spiced up by musical performances by BANDS and VOCALISTS so don't forget to head on down and show your support for this amazing good cause while picking up some great and awesome bargains along the way!

Be Exalted..

What an awesome day,
begun with a routine breakfast at serangoon with papa and brother!
And we started to talk about the past,
1) the super pwnage ice lemon tea in potong pasir, near my grandma's house..
2) prata times with family when i was super young
3) my bro and mum appearing on newspaper like about a decade ago.. cause hes born in the year of the dragon and got into PAP kindergarten. (lol)
4) my bro grew up in under my grandma's care

So excitingggg!
Sometimes the more we look back at how much we've gone through, the more we just wanna grow so much more cause there's so much more to the future! ^^

Sitting in Melody's followup on "4 Hearts" with Maryse 2 days ago brought many many many many memories.
How it was my first followup with Garrett, outside admin office and I realised how much I cried last time, (double lol), even on followups. (triple lol).
And now looking back, i find it super amusing.

But talking about hearts, this hit me:
For most of us, followup days were like eons ago,
and it's been so long since we've learnt about the Parable of the Sower.

Through the years,
hearts have turned cold,
hearts have went astray.
And we see wounded hearts picking up the pieces that have been left behind.

But in this new day, we see those who have held on and endured the flames;
now they're literally on fire!
And we're now witnessing a new generation rising and it's gonna be mind-blowing! ^^

Finally a polar taken with Bongxzxzx!
Sorry for the super ultra bad quality, cause the colour got distorted after going through the scanner, lol. So it looked even weirder after photoshopped. ( so much for refining) And this is the only way to see the details of the photo is too reduce the brightness, so hence the weird colour of the photo, LOL.

Anyway, this CNY came as a sudden too, so my only new clothes was bought from guys section of departmental stores and i'm thoroughly amused by how my parents and salespeople are so supportive of my cross-dressing. LOL.

Oh anywayyy, I'm super glad to be able help out more at home with the householdchores, especially relieving those "high-risk" ones from my mother's duties, cause falling seems to be a thing in the family. (can take any form of limb)

I've self proclaimed last weekend to be powerpacked!
In spirituality and God's wonders ^^

Ive got a newer+ fresher revelation of God!
I adore it like how i adore lectures notes freshly printed from the bookstore auntie, lol im kidding.
But the feeling's the same, cause we all like new stuffff! SUPAH SHIOKK!!
God is not there, He's Here... (places hand on heart)

Last weekend, my heart strengthened and soared!
I saw how God has changed Melody's heart and how miracles never fail to happen as long as we keep having faith.
I saw how God made a way for Wenxiong where there seems to be no way, God's ever unfailing! :D
& for myself, i scare myself, or should i say God scares me with his limitless power and love, to deliver me through cg, both services and discipleship class every week, without ANY scratches.
-Joy feels like a springroll wrapped in God's love- ^^

Discipleship class always the best, especially after service; it's like how things can get better and better in every moment! ^^
Love the leaders, love the heart-to-heart talks, love the people there, love the games and nonsensical things we do while waiting for it to start.

to those who secretly worries about my financial status every week,
just wanna share that i've been really blessed, in one way or another, money flows in like water and my parents + auntie has unknowingly paid for a months of tickets. ^^
Definitely, as long as you're willing to do it for God, He's more than willing to do it for you too.

And i'm still really touched by Kenneth on New Year's Eve, he told me that night that he heard about my situation and wanted to bless me. So he took out a wallet, and i expected a small card to encourage me, but he took out $10!

(I think i should carry a camera wherever i go again, cause i realised that the feeling of not having the pictures that ive taken is really awful. But then again, I'll have to minus the fact that my dad would know what i really go and who are with me in this.)

Oh, and I think i still cannot establish the fact that it's already 2009.
Like how Christmas 08 came as a shock to me, catching me off guard, 2009 was no different.

No doubt there's worries and fears for the obvious reasons like A levels, SYF, and the usual, parents.
But let's not forget God's Love conquers all amen? ^^
